Privacy Policy
At WordHunt, we care about your privacy. This policy outlines how we use technology to deliver our game and how we handle your data
Proudly based in Waterloo, Canada
1. What We Collect
WordHunt does not collect or store any personal user data. You can play the game completely anonymously
2. Firebase Usage
We use Firebase to host and manage game data. Firebase helps us:
- Store daily puzzle boards
- Retrieve previously played games
- Save anonymous game progress (locally, on your device)
We do not use Firebase to collect personal information. We do not use Firebase Authentication or store user profiles
3. Cookies & Local Storage
We use local storage on your device to:
- Remember which words you've found
- Track your score for saved games
- Store your timer preferences
This data is stored only in your browser and is never shared or transmitted to our servers
4. Analytics
We use two analytics tools to understand how players use WordHunt:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — collects anonymous usage data such as pages visited, session duration, clicks, and device/browser type. IP addresses are anonymized by Google.
- Simple Analytics — a privacy-first analytics tool that collects no personal data, sets no cookies, and does not track users across sites. It only counts page views and referrers in aggregate.
- Vercel Analytics — collects anonymized performance data such as Core Web Vitals, page load times, and traffic patterns. No personal identifiers are stored.
Neither tool stores personal identifiers like your name, email, or full IP address.
5. Hosting & Infrastructure
WordHunt is hosted on Vercel. As part of serving the application, Vercel may collect limited technical data such as IP addresses and request logs for the purpose of performance monitoring and abuse prevention. Vercel Analytics may also be enabled to measure Core Web Vitals and page performance.
This data is handled according to Vercel's own privacy policy and is not used by us to identify individual users. You can review Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
6. Your Rights
Since we do not store any personal data, there is no account or profile information to manage or delete. You may disable cookies or use an ad/tracking blocker to prevent analytics collection if desired
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page
